In a well-executed offensive targeting criminal hideouts, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army (NA) / Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully rescued seven individuals abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road on August 3, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 6, by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade.
The statement revealed that the search-and-rescue mission was carried out over two days, Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
During the operation, troops encountered the kidnappers, who, unable to withstand the military’s superior firepower and relentless pursuit, abandoned their captives and fled the scene.
Four victims were located unhurt in Chinkai Forest on August 5, while the remaining three, all female, were rescued the following day in Owedi Community, within Wukari Local Government Area.
“The successful recovery of all seven victims underscores the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and dedication to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of Taraba State residents,” the statement noted.
Commander of the 6 Brigade NA / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the troops for their commitment, describing the operation as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against criminality.
He further reaffirmed the Brigade’s determination to maintain aggressive operations aimed at eliminating kidnapping and protecting lives and property across the state.
