Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands, the 21-year-old heir to the Dutch throne, has reportedly become the victim of a disturbing “deepfake” pornography attack, Norwegian outlet Seher Og Hor reports.
The AI-generated videos superimposed her likeness onto the bodies of adult film actors. In response, Dutch authorities, in collaboration with the FBI, have acted to shut down websites spreading the explicit material, including MrDeepFakes—a notorious platform previously tied to similar content featuring about 70 Dutch women.
That site was taken offline worldwide in May following a major investigation
Dutch officials are now urging Canada to extradite David Do, identified as one of the suspected operators behind the site. Princess Catharina-Amalia, who is receiving the support of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, has reportedly been targeted by similar attacks before, including an incident in 2022.
The case comes amid a broader international crackdown on AI-generated explicit content. In the Netherlands, producing sexual deepfakes is a criminal offence carrying a penalty of up to one year in prison, with harsher sentences for repeat offenders. Authorities noted that no arrests have yet been made.
Princess Amalia has recently confronted the issue directly in her academic work, dedicating her bachelor’s thesis at the University of Amsterdam to the subject of deepfake abuse and its legal consequences. She now plans to continue her studies in Dutch law.
The crown princess has also faced serious security concerns in the past, having lived under strict protection following kidnap threats from organized crime groups—an ordeal that at one point forced her to pause her university studies. Authorities emphasize that her safety remains a top priority as investigations into the deepfake case move forward.
