British Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala, arriving in a custom ivory suit by designer Grace Wales Bonner, paired with a matching beret and vintage jewelry.
As co-chair of this year’s event—held under the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—Hamilton’s look celebrated Black cultural heritage. The suit was adorned with symbolic details, including cowrie shells and mother-of-pearl buttons, nodding to his African roots.
The racing star worked closely with Wales Bonner and stylist Eric McNeal for several months to bring the ensemble to life.
Speaking on the red carpet, Hamilton said he felt deeply honored to co-chair the Gala and emphasized the importance of spotlighting Black designers and culture on such a prestigious stage. He also reflected on his journey from purchasing a table in 2021 to support emerging Black designers, to now collaborating directly with Anna Wintour in shaping the Gala’s future.
