The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a commercial motorcyclist, Isah Ibrahim, whose body was discovered inside a well at Ore Stadium in Odigbo Local Government Area.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said Ibrahim had been reported missing on August 17 before his remains were later recovered from the well.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Razaq, has directed a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
“We appeal for calm as the Police will diligently investigate this matter, and the perpetrators of this heinous act will face the full wrath of the law,” Ayanlade assured.
Reports indicate that Ibrahim’s colleagues had searched extensively across Ore after he went missing on August 17, until his body was eventually found in the well on Thursday.
A fellow motorcyclist, who spoke anonymously, revealed that Ibrahim’s Bajaj motorcycle has not been found since his disappearance, fueling suspicions of foul play.
He suggested that Ibrahim’s death may be linked to motorcycle theft, a crime that has become increasingly common in the area.
“We call on the Police and other security agencies to step up efforts to track down these criminals, arrest them, and provide a lasting solution to the insecurity in Ore, as our lives are no longer safe,” he said.
