The dismembered body of a 39-year-old pregnant woman was found in Temidire community, Ilorin, on Thursday, August 21, and her husband’s younger brother has been arrested as a suspect.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, August 23.

According to the statement, officers received a distress call around 9:00 a.m. after a resident raised alarm over suspicious activity at the home of Mr. Ekene Enemo. Detectives rushed to the scene and discovered the mutilated remains of Mrs. Esther Enemo in a bush behind her residence. Additional body parts were later recovered, hidden in a sack and dumped beneath a community bridge.

Police disclosed that 29-year-old Sylvester Enemo, the victim’s brother-in-law, was apprehended after being spotted leaving the house shortly before the grim discovery. Her husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been invited for questioning.

The command noted that the deceased’s remains have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a thorough investigation, assuring that justice will be pursued. He also appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid spreading fear or unverified claims, emphasizing that security measures have been strengthened across the state.

The police further urged members of the public to cooperate by providing useful information that could aid the investigation.
