Platinum-selling musician D4vd is working with investigators after a body was discovered in the trunk of his impounded Tesla at a Los Angeles tow yard.
Police were alerted on Monday, September 8, when passers-by reported a strong odor coming from the vehicle. Officers later uncovered human remains in a bag inside the trunk. According to officials, the car had been abandoned for at least five days before being towed from the upscale Bird Streets neighborhood in Hollywood Hills.
Authorities confirmed the vehicle, which carried Texas license plates, was registered to David Anthony Burke — the singer’s real name. One source said D4vd has been fully cooperating with the investigation.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reported Tuesday night that the victim was a female with wavy black hair, “severely decomposed” at the time of discovery. She had a tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh,” and was dressed in a tube top with black leggings. Investigators added that she wore yellow metal stud earrings and a matching bracelet. Due to the advanced decomposition, officials have not been able to determine her age or ethnicity.
Despite the shocking discovery, D4vd — currently on tour — went ahead with scheduled performances, including a show in Madison, Wisconsin, on September 7, and another in Minneapolis on September 9.
The LAPD described the incident as an ongoing “death investigation.” KTLA reported that the remains were so decomposed investigators initially could not identify the gender.
In the wake of the revelations, fashion brands Crocs and Hollister announced they were suspending a campaign featuring D4vd in their “Dream Drop” collaboration, stating:
“We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.”
