Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have rescued an Egyptian national just 24 hours after he was abducted in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, noting that the victim was freed without ransom payment.
According to him, the rescue followed a coordinated operation ordered by Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna, involving operatives from the 4 PMF Ibadan, the Intelligence and Tactical Units, local vigilantes, and officers from the Ogun State Police Command.
The combined teams tracked the kidnappers through forests and border areas between Oyo and Ogun before successfully rescuing the victim, who is now undergoing medical checks at the Police Hospital, Eleyele, prior to being reunited with his family.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing its commitment to public safety and peace in Oyo State.
