Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, has sparked debate after mocking First Lady Melania Trump for a letter she addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning children impacted by the Ukraine war.

In a social media video, Schlossberg wore a blonde wig, left his beard unshaven, and read the letter in an exaggerated Slovenian accent.

He captioned the clip in all caps, imitating former President Donald Trump’s style: “A message from our BEAUTIFUL FIRST LADY” and ended with Trump’s familiar phrase, “thank you for your attention to this matter, We want peace!”

Schlossberg then delivered a sarcastic remark, saying: “What am I saying? This makes no sense. Please be more specific, Miss Melania Trump.”

The letter, personally handed by former President Trump to Vladimir Putin during last week’s summit in Alaska, appealed to the Russian leader to safeguard the innocence of children “in service of Russia and humanity.” Though it did not directly reference Ukraine, it highlighted the toll of the war on children and urged Putin to “single-handedly restore” the “melodic laughter” of those affected.

Jack Schlossberg, 32, has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration. Just last month, he condemned a proposal to rename the Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump, describing it as an attack on free expression. In his latest post, he went further, joking that he would support Trump’s “life-long goal” of changing the Kennedy Center’s name if Trump agreed to release his “Epstein files.”

Recently appointed to the America250 Commission by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Schlossberg expressed gratitude for Schumer’s leadership, pledging not to let him down.

Meanwhile, analysts say Melania Trump’s letter underscores her influence behind the scenes and her quiet effort to establish an independent voice. Former White House correspondent Kate Bennett told CNN that the letter highlights Melania’s concern for children and her continued political involvement, while also reflecting the conservative values she shares with her husband.
